Alex Shalaby is the current Chairman and former CEO of Mobinil, one of Egypt’s largest mobile phone operators. Alex came to Mobinil from Washington, DC, where he was Director for Public Affairs for AT&T, serving as the company’s link to lawmakers on Capitol Hill and lobbying the executive branch of the U.S. government. He has also served on the boards of the American Chamber of Commerce, becoming its president from 1991 to 1992; the Bi-national Fulbright Commission; and Seeds of Peace. He currently chairs the boards of Injaz & Enactus in Egypt. Alex has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alexandria and earned an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from San Jose State University in California.
